Background
With extensive experience in sailmaking and soft-goods design, I have cultivated a user-centered approach that emphasizes functionality with innovation. My ability to craft custom solutions for diverse needs has enhanced my adaptability in dynamic environments. This hands-on experience fuels my commitment to designing products that improve usability while integrating practical insights toward creative problem-solving.

Education
I began my design education at RISD, where I developed a strong foundation in technical precision and problem-solving. Following this, I gained years of experience working with textile products, which further shaped my understanding of manufacturing processes and stackholder management. I returned to school to pursue my Master of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, with a focused emphasis on user-centered innovation and research. Outside of formal education, I remain dedicated to continuous learning.

Design Philosophy
My approach to design is built on three core principles: Empathy, Accessibility, and Integration.
Empathy Leads to Innovation
Understanding the needs, challenges, and experiences of users is central to creating effective and meaningful design solutions.

Accessibility is Essential
Design should work for everyone, ensuring functionality and inclusivity.
Integration Drives Change
Aligning systems, services, and user experiences creates more effective and meaningful solutions. I aim to design not just products but systems and experiences that address complex problems, especially in healthcare, where thoughtful design can directly improve lives.

Key Research
Assistive Technologies for Parkinson’s Disease
My graduate thesis was informed by my personal experience caring for my father during his battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Thesis Research
Highlighted the importance of user empathy in designing assistive technologies. Focused on integrating systems and creating seamless user experiences. Reinforced the role of design in addressing challenges in healthcare and aging.

Beyond Design
Outside of work, I find balance and inspiration in a variety of activities, including cooking and baking, sailing, swimming, and tennis. I also enjoy exploring art and traveling, delving into botany and bonsai, and challenging myself with trivia and strategy games.

What Drives Me
I focus on solving problems through thoughtful, functional design. My goal is to improve usability and create solutions that have a measurable impact.
